Glass artist Scott Pernicka has mastered the art of mixing illusion and magic in his beautiful vortex marble pieces. Pernicka reveals the he has “always had an interest in sculpture, painting and science with an eagerness to rise to a difficult challenge and succeed with beautiful color. Handcrafted artisan glass was the answer to my artistic inquiries and I have been sculpting glass into works of art since 1996.”

Pernicka uses a flameworking process to melt Borosilicate glass at high temperatures. The color is added to this process by using different types of crystallized metal and metal oxides. The end result is a magical handheld illusion.
