Just last month, Lady Gaga sat down with Howard Stern to promote her new album “Joanne” on “The Howard Stern Show” and gave listeners a shock when she unexpectedly belted out her favorite Led Zeppelin song, “Black Dog.”
While those who don’t know her well, compare her to Madonna, she’s really anything but. And, not like many other pop stars either.
The pop superstar is a “closet metalhead and hard rock fan,” she was even in a Led Zeppelin cover band WHEN SHE WAS YOUNGer.
Just recently, Gaga told Zane Lowe, “I play a lot of instruments. I write all my own music. I spend hours and hours a day in the studio. I’m a producer. I’m a writer. What I do is different.
Unbeknownst to many, she learned piano at the age of four and was just 11-years-old when she was accepted into Juilliard, the prestigious Manhattan private performing arts school. She chose to attend an Upper East Side Catholic school instead, and eventually got early admission to NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts.
“I love to yell and scream and be raspy.”
Gaga sang the first few lines of the song as Stern attempted to mimic Jimmy Page’s monster riff.
You won’t believe it when you hear it, she sounds like a completely different singer – and, there is no autotune or vocal effects.
Howard: “And that’ll tear your voice up, right?”
Gaga: “If you don’t know how to sing, yeah.”
Check it out the video Above, Hopefully she explores more of her rock ‘n’ roll side in the future.
